Hannah and Steve – A Heartwarming Makeney Hall Hotel Wedding

Makeney Hall Hotel Wedding

Enjoy reading about this awesome Makeney Hall Hotel Wedding

After a week of monsoon-like rains, floods, and general carnage in our neck of the woods, Andy and I were keeping a close eye on the forecast for Hannah and Steve’s wedding. It wasn’t looking good for a while, but fortunately, mother nature came good and the sun shone hurrah! We were especially pleased as Hannah and Steve had their hearts set on an outdoor wedding and had booked the picturesque Makeney Hall in the Peak District for its attractive outdoor wedding ceremony option.

Now this wedding was extra special for us as we were both photographers and guests…Hannah is Andy’s cousin! We’ll give you fair warning, our daughter, nieces, and nephew feature rather heavily. But however cute they are, no-one steals the show from the happy couple ?

The night before the wedding saw a card-based present stealing game get everyone in the party mood. With Uncle Dave playing ringmaster and some tactical theft of prizes from the kids, this game set the tone for the day after.

The morning of the wedding was a laid-back affair with only a few minor hiccups (…all I’m saying is “glue”, “zip” and “coat hanger” #ifyouknowyouknow). Andy and I left Clove to get ready with her grandparents (wait until you see her little outfit!!) to free us up for bridal and groom prep pictures.

Hannah and her maid of honour Amy had their hair done beautifully by Carly then did their own makeup to the sounds of pure ’90s (I like to move it, move it!).

Over with the boys, it was an equally chilled out affair. Andy was with the groomsmen whilst they were getting ready. But where was Steve? Well, he turned up all casual and relaxed wondering what the fuss was about! Once suited and ‘shoed’ the boys were off outside to do some last-minute venue dressing and get ready for the afternoon ahead!

You only need to be young at heart to be a flower girl and 85-year-old Gran did an excellent job at scattering petals down the aisle. The ceremony was conducted by Hannah’s Aunty Ann… continuing the intimate family feel to the day.

We then made our way to the fabulous lawns in front of the hall where we were treated to canapes and drinks while the kids (small and big) ran around and played with the lawn games. We really can’t recommend Makeney Hall enough for an outdoor wedding with kids, they had a blast!

The speeches and wedding breakfast were in Makeney Hall’s light-filled conservatory. This beautifully bright space makes the most of lush greenery outside with glasshouse windows.

Hannah and Steve had got crafty in the run-up to their wedding making most of the decorations, including the very impressive wooden L O V E sign with lights in! This literally involved blood, sweat & tears…right Steve?!

Later in the evening, we were all treated to a hog roast, churros and candyfloss to keep us sustained for the dance floor. The DJ kept the momentum up with floor fillers including The Macarena and Saturday Night! Classics!

Congratulations, Hannah and Steve!!
