Getting ready for a beautiful spring wedding
When you get a text from the bride on the morning of her wedding which is filled with exclamation marks and smiley emojis, you know you’re in for a fun day!
When I arrived at Rachel’s mum’s house (which is the most dreamy house ever by the way) there was an ideal excited yet relaxed vibe going on.
The girls pampered to an awesome playlist. Mum kept us all nourished with brunch and bucks fizz in glasses she’d embossed in gold with everyone’s names (this is one talented lady). Dad floated from room to room with a constant smile on his face.
The littlies were
To the pub!
So let’s talk about the dress.
She did however, add a touch of vintage wearing her Grandma’s wax flower and pearl headpiece, which had been worn by other brides in her family before. With her soft waves, it gave her hair a lovely boho look. There was a particularly poignant moment when her mum realised that Rachel was wearing her Grandma’s hairpiece while looking into the mirror on her Grandad’s wardrobe ♥️
Meanwhile, the groom’s party and the rest of the wedding guests had wasted no time putting their clobber on and getting down t’pub!!
Ollie and Rachel had arranged for everyone to travel in style for their big day. At 11 o’clock, everyone had assembled at the front of Shrigley Hall, where their reception would be later, and watched as a shiny red Routemaster double decker bus roared (well, chugged!) up the steep carriage drive looking resplendent in the warm spring wedding weather.
After some mingling and selfies in front of the bus, everyone hopped on board. The lucky driver was treated to a wedding party rendition of “The Wheels on the Bus” led by Ollie. Then everyone disembarked straight into The Silk Trader pub for a cheeky pint or two before the wedding!
Once the double decker had safety deposited Ollie and his crew in the pub, it set off to pick up the bridal party. Proseccos in hands (…and some all over Melly, Rachel’s twin sister and bridesmaid!) we headed to St. Paul’s church in Macclesfield for a beautiful ceremony where Rachel and Ollie became Mr and Mrs Nielson-Bird ?
An Ibiza Saxophonist?!?
Then it was “all aboard the big red bus!” one last time to make the scenic drive back to Shrigley Hall, amidst toots galore!
The couple had chosen The Tilden Suite for their reception and it looked stunning! Fairy lights twinkling everywhere, candles suspended over the tables, gin bottles with little lights glittering inside them, it was really magical.
Their family friend, Alison, had made their delicious looking cake, which stood pride of place on a tower of cupcakes and donuts.
There was a photobooth full of inflatable props, a best man duo in red coats with a quiz, and come their first dance, a sax player to accompany the DJ set! This wedding just kept on giving!!
We left the as the party were munching on the buffet, but we’re dying to know how the Ibiza sax set went down…did anyone get a video?!
Congratulations Rachel and Ollie, we had such a brilliant day with you guys xx
